The Benefits of Omega 3
The Omega 3 actually switches on the Lipolytic genes (fat burning genes) and switch of the Lipogenic genes (fat promoting genes). If you are exposed to high levels of stress you will find that the Lipogenic genes will be activated for a number of complex physiological reasons. In addition, the body realises the high level of toxicity being generated by the stress (sugar, caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol, etc) and the high secretion of Cortisol from the Adrenal Glands, and the fat is used to help store the toxins away from the major working organs.
In women, there are different Types of PMS or PMT. To name a few... and to give you solutions
We have PMS - H (hepatic) which affects the liver, so when you are menstruating and you find yourself waking between 1am-3am, then you are suffering from Type H - PMS
PMS - D - will give off feelings of feeling depressed - so a supplement of Vitamin D3 at the relevant time of the month is crucial to lift your mood state
PMS C - will give you the carb cravings, so maybe try the trick of increasing your protein to fend off those feelings or the strategy of thick pouring cream with 5grams of L-Glutamine mixed in.
Or you may suffer from a mixture of all these symptoms - either way, the Omega 3 will help with it all.In young children suffering from ADHD, it will help them to focus on mental tasks and calm them down in conjunction with normalised Magnesium levels.
Omega 3 is also fantastic for any skin conditions, so if you or anybody you know is suffering from any form of skin irritation or disorder it is worth trying.
It may be that you assume you eat sufficient amounts of oily fish each week and that you have an adequate intake of Omega-3, I would suggest this is probably not the case. Omega 3, unlike its Omega 6 & 9 counterparts is very easily damaged during the cooking process. To some of my clients I recommend 1gram of Omega 3 per % of body fat. For example, 20% body fat would equate to 20grams of fish oil, sounds a lot, it is, but it works very well with a weight loss goal and no there are no harmful side effects - it is a naturally occurring product, what if you only had access to mackerel and sardines everyday, would this make you ill? of course not, but it would be wise to supplement this substance as it would be impractical to consume such high levels of fish everyday throughout the day.
